The Prosperity Report № 26 · November 2, 2026

Your brand is not your logo or your following. It is the reputation that works while you sleep.

A 5-minute weekly report delivering proven strategies, actionable insights, and curated resources to help you grow your business, build your authority, and create your best life.

Good Tuesday. Most founders who cannot attract clients go straight to the marketing: the funnel, the ad spend, the content calendar. That rarely fixes it, because the actual problem is that the market does not know who you are, what you stand for, or why you can be trusted to deliver. People do not buy products and services. They buy from people they know, like, trust, and believe can get them a result. If branding were a logo you could hire a designer and be done by Friday. It is reputation instead, which means it gets built the slow way, through clarity, consistency, and proof.

Here is the assignment. Write one sentence that answers what you want to be known for and exactly who you want to serve, then Google yourself and see whether a stranger would arrive at that same sentence. If the two do not match, you do not have a traffic problem. You have a clarity problem, and clarity is the only part of this you control completely. Fix the sentence first, then go make the evidence easy to find.

Key takeaways

From this week's solo sessions with George.

Decide what you want to be known for. Most people never control their own narrative, so the market decides it for them. Name the audience you genuinely want to work with, the problem you solve for them, and the experience that makes your view different. Trying to be known for everything is how you end up known for nothing.

Demonstrate value instead of promoting yourself. Visibility is not shouting louder, it is putting your expertise in front of a curated audience that already has the problem you solve. Pick three questions your ideal clients are silently asking and publish real answers (a podcast guest spot, an article, a short video). Reputation takes repetition.

Make your proof easy to find. Attention is not the objective, trust is. Testimonials, case studies, documented results, and media features are evidence that exists outside your own claims. Every interaction with your brand either strengthens it, weakens it, or confuses it, so give your visibility somewhere to lead.

Protect the asset doing the building. Burnout arrives gradually, and productivity hides it, because you can absolutely get things done while quietly exhausting yourself. Every yes to a good opportunity is a no to your health, your family, or the quiet space you think in. Treat recovery as infrastructure, not a reward you earn after the launch.

Ryan Sauers

Ryan Sauers

Keynote speaker, university professor, and business owner with 30 years in leadership and communication, on the gap between what leaders intend and what their teams actually feel.

Every leader believes the door is open. Sauers makes his living discovering that the team experiences something else entirely, and his point is sharper than it first sounds: your intention is not the thing people respond to. Your impact is. The reputation you have inside your own company follows the same rule as the one you build outside it, which is that it gets decided by other people, based on evidence.

“Trust is earned way over time, and it can be lost in a second.”

Three things worth stealing from the conversation:

  1. Audit the gap, not the intention. Leaders tell Sauers their door is always open, and then the team tells him they are not welcome to walk through it. Values go on the wall and 90% of the organization cannot repeat them. Ask your people directly what it is like to work with you, and listen without defending.
  2. No response is still a response. You were busy, you forgot, it slipped. The person waiting on you received a message anyway, and it was not the one you meant to send. Go answer the three messages you have been sitting on, because silence is the cheapest way to lose trust you spent years earning.
  3. Repair at speed, with ownership. When trust breaks, the formula is how fast you say it is on you and how plainly you say you will make it right. Blame the circumstances instead and everyone watching concludes you will never take responsibility for anything. The apology works because it arrives first, not because it is eloquent.

Try it yourself

Run the honest version of Sauers' test. Ask three people who will actually tell you the truth what it is like to work with you, or commission a full 360 that pulls in peers, vendors, and direct reports. His books Everyone Is in Sales and Would You Buy from You? cover the same ground if you want the longer form.

The 30-day challenge

For the next 30 days, publish one real answer a week to a question your ideal clients are silently asking, and stop posting anything that is purely about you. Reply to this email with the one sentence that says what you want to be known for and who you serve. I read them.
