Anthony Perera is the Managing Partner of Exuma Capital Partners, a family office focused on the lower middle market. He built Air Pros USA from a single HVAC truck into a nationwide business exceeding $200 million in six years, and won Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year along the way. Exuma now runs a portfolio north of $300 million. He has built companies, operated them, and now acquires them, and that sequence shapes every deal he looks at.
Exuma buys founder-led, founder-owned companies with roughly $2 million to $10 million of EBITDA, the range most private equity firms skip. Perera favors fragmented industries, especially anything connected to the home, and service businesses that AI can improve but not replace. He also launched inspected.com in 2020 to fix open permits and endless inspection windows. The company ran out of money three times and pivoted three times before it landed on third-party private inspections, changed state law to make the model legal, and reached more than 12,000 inspections a month before a private equity firm acquired it.
On The Daily Mastermind, Anthony sat down with George Wright III for a working conversation about AI, operations, and what operators see that financiers miss. He walked through the first thing he installs after an acquisition — daily numbers instead of a month-end P&L — plus the $35 million roofing company still dispatching on pen and paper, the coffee shop that tripled weekly revenue on social media alone, and why he grooms operators into CEOs rather than hiring one on day one.
