Turning "Someday" into Today

Hey guys, welcome back to the Daily Mastermind. George Wright III with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. I wanna, I wanna throw a thought out to you today. Listen to this. The word someday might be the most expensive word in your vocabulary. Every single extraordinary life begins with ordinary days, not perfect days. I want you to think about that. You know, have you ever noticed how often we use the word someday? You know, someday I'll slow down. Someday I'll get in shape. Someday I'll spend more time with my family. Someday I'll start the business or I'll write the book. Someday I'll finally become the person that I know I'm capable of being, you know, someday. The problem is that someday is one of the most dangerous words in the English language, not because it, it, it, it, it gives us hope, but because it gives us permission to delay. And while we're busy dreaming about [00:01:00] someday, today really slips away. I think one of the, the biggest misconceptions entrepreneurs have is that extraordinary lives are built on extraordinary moments You know, we picture that big breakthrough, the huge sale, the standing ovation, the recognition, the viral video, the, the business exit, the moment everyone notices. But that's not where extraordinary lives are created. They're created long before anyone is watching. Those lives are created on ordinary days, days that don't feel exciting, days that don't feel significant, days where nothing dramatic happens at all. That's where your future is actually being built. You know, we love breakthrough stories because they're exciting. They're viral, right? We hear about the entrepreneur who built a $100 million company, or the athlete who won the, the championship, or the author whose book became a bestseller. And what we rarely hear about are the thousands of ordinary moments and, and, and regular [00:02:00] mornings that came before the breakthrough. The early workouts, the difficult conversations, the discipline, you know, decisions, and the books that they read, the promises they keep to themselves when nobody else cared. You know, success is... I- it's not built in one incredible day, but it's not sexy. It's not something we wanna hear about. But it's something you need to realize because it's, you know, success is built on thousands of days that looked completely ordinary. And that's actually good news for you and for me, right? Because extraordinary success isn't reserved for extraordinary people. It's available to everyday people who refuse to waste their ordinary days. Let me say that again. It's available to ordinary people who refuse to waste ordinary days. See, the real danger is that someday, quote unquote, becomes a habit. It becomes harmless because it... I mean, I'm sorry, it, it, it appears to be [00:03:00] harmless, but every time you tell yourself you'll do it later, you're actually making a decision today. Later, I'm gonna start eating healthier. Later, I'll make the sales call. Later, I'll launch the podcast. Later, I'll have that difficult conversation or take care of my health. You know, later I'll spend more time with people I love. And the truth is, later has a way of becoming never, not because you don't care, not because y- you know, you're not capable or you're still trying to learn, but because tomorrow always arrives disguised as another day. Tomorrow's always just another ordinary day, and today's responsibilities always seem more urgent than tomorrow's dreams And, you know, here's the shift that I really want you to make. I want you to stop asking yourself, you know, "What extraordinary thing do I need to do? What, what out-of-the-box idea, what big thing do I need to do?" Instead, ask yourself [00:04:00] this: "What ordinary action can I take today that my future self is gonna thank me for?" Because it's 30 minutes in the gym. It's making the call you've been avoiding. Maybe it's reading 10 pages instead of scrolling for 30 minutes. Maybe it's sitting down with your partner without your phone. Maybe it's finally mapping out the business you've been talking about starting for years. See, none of those actions seem awesome or extraordinary But neither does laying one brick. But you need to lay that brick. One day you're gonna realize that you've built an entire house, and your life works the same way. One decision, one habit, one ordinary day at a time. Here's a question I've been asking myself lately, and maybe it's one that you, you should ask yourself, too. I want you to think about this. If I repeated today, if you repeated the day you just had... I'm, I'm recording this in the evening now. If you [00:05:00] repeated today exactly as you lived it over and over and over for the next five years, would you have the life that you're saying that you want? Think about that. Not your intentions, not your goals, not the big break or the vision board, just today. If you repeated what you did today, would it create the future that you've been chasing your whole life? Because if the answer is no, then the solution isn't waiting for your motivation. The solution is just changing your day. Not next week, not next month, not someday, today. Now, I'm gonna leave you with this thought, and, you know, maybe it's 'cause I just got done, you know, going uphill climb on the treadmill for a half hour or whatever. But you-- I want you to, I want you to think about this. Your extraordinary future is not waiting somewhere out on the horizon. It, it's being quietly built right here and right now [00:06:00] in the choices that you make when nobody's watching, in the habits that you're repeating, the promises that you are hopefully keeping to yourself in those ordinary, everyday days that most people aren't looking at. Don't underestimate the power of an ordinary Monday or an ordinary Tuesday. Don't dismiss the value of one workout or one conversation or one chapter or one decision, because those moments become extraordinary lives. So stop waiting for someday to arrive. Build a life that makes today matter, because one day you're gonna look back and you're gonna realize that the extraordinary life you dreamed about, it wasn't created by that incredible moment, that breakthrough, that big idea, that, you know, whatever it was. It was created by thousands of ordinary days that you choose not to waste. Everybody wants to play in the game on Sunday, but nobody wants to practice during the week [00:07:00] So that's my message and my thought for today. Until next time, I want you to remember something. You may feel like you're doing it on your own. You may feel like your big break hasn't come. You may feel like it's a grind. Or maybe you're even crushing it and you're just wondering, you know, what else is out there? What else is there? And I'm here to tell you that it's never too late to create the life that you were meant to live, the one you really want to live, the one that is waiting for you. If you'll stay focused and clear and disciplined, that's the whole reason I started the Daily Mastermind. Clarity, focus, and discipline for founders, entrepreneurs, business owners, really anyone.
