The Creation Equation: How Your Thoughts and Decisions Shape Your Life

Robert Stuberg

Listen

In this episode of The Daily Mastermind, George Wright III continues a powerful two-part series featuring mentor Robert Stuberg on "the secret" and how to apply it in your daily life. This second installment goes beyond the concept of thought power and into the practical mechanics of transformation, giving you a concrete framework for turning mental intention into real results.

If you have ever wondered why you know what you want but still cannot seem to get there, this episode offers a clear answer. The tools Robert Stuberg shares are simple, fundamental, and proven, and George has seen them work firsthand with thousands of students across industries.

Why Your Thinking Patterns Are Keeping You Stuck

You have approximately 50,000 thoughts every single day. That is 50,000 opportunities to move your life forward, or to stay exactly where you are. The challenge is that most people run on autopilot, cycling through the same mental patterns day after day and producing the same results.

Nothing in your life can ever really change if your way of thinking about it remains the same.

This is the core insight the episode builds on. Before any technique or strategy can work, you have to recognize that your current results are a direct reflection of your current thinking. That is not a criticism; it is an invitation to take control.

The Difference Between a Wish and a Decision

One of the most important distinctions in this episode is the gap between wishing for something and deciding to have it. Wishes are passive. They begin with "I wish" or "if only," and because those thoughts are rooted in lack, they reinforce that lack. The universe, as Robert explains, responds to what you put out, not what you long for.

Decisions are different. They are active, clear, and forward-moving. When you decide to create something in your life, you are not just setting a goal. You are committing to a direction and signaling to every part of your mind and the world around you that this is where you are headed. Decisions require honesty about your obstacles and clarity about your destination.

The Creation Equation Explained

The practical centerpiece of this episode is what Robert Stuberg calls the creation equation:

The creation equation is decision plus action equals creation.

It sounds simple because it is. But the power is in what each element demands from you. Decisions require clarity, focus, and a willingness to face both your goals and the habits that have been working against them. Action is how your decisions show up in the world. Without action, a decision stays invisible. Together, they produce creation: the actual transformation of your life.

This is not a philosophy of wishful thinking. It is a discipline that asks you to align your daily behavior with what you have decided to build.

How Visualization Accelerates Your Results

Once you have made a decision, visualization becomes one of your most powerful tools. Robert explains that visualization works because it trains your mind to treat your intended future as something you already possess, which in turn draws that reality toward you.

The practice is straightforward. Set aside about 15 uninterrupted minutes each day, ideally at the same time, and vividly imagine the life you are building. Engage all of your senses. Walk through the rooms of the house you want. Feel the emotions tied to the career you are creating. The more real you can make it feel, the more effectively it works.

A few practical reinforcements: place a photo or symbol of your goal somewhere you will see it every day, and carry the emotional state of your vision into your ordinary interactions. Because:

Like attracts like. The thoughts we focus on and repeat are the ones that are literally translated into reality.

Living From Your Results, Not Toward Them

One of the more nuanced ideas in this episode is the concept of "living from your results." Rather than working from where you are and hoping you will someday arrive at your goal, you begin making decisions and taking actions that are consistent with the outcome you have already decided to create.

Think of it like following a recipe. You know the end result, so every step you take is oriented toward producing it. This keeps your actions purposeful and your mindset aligned with your intention rather than your current circumstances.

Just as important: do not postpone living fully until you reach the destination. Measure your progress by how far you have come, not by how far you still have to go. Happiness is not the reward at the end; it is a decision you make along the way.

Why Accepting Responsibility Is the Starting Point

Before the creation equation can work, you have to accept one challenging truth: everything about your current life is your own creation, including the parts you want to change. This is not about blame. It is about ownership. If your thoughts created where you are now, then your thoughts can create somewhere different.

Robert points out that people often stay in unsatisfying situations because, on some level, those situations serve them, whether through security, sympathy, or freedom from risk. Recognizing what you are getting out of a situation is the first step to truly choosing something better.

Action Steps

  • Audit your daily thought patterns. Identify the recurring thoughts that are keeping your results exactly where they are, and consciously replace them with decisions.
  • Convert your wishes into decisions. Rewrite each "I wish" statement as a firm, present-tense decision and notice how the energy behind it shifts.
  • Build a daily 15-minute visualization practice. Make it specific, sensory, and emotionally engaged. Pair it with a visible reminder of your goal.
  • For each goal, define the actions that someone who has already achieved it would take, then begin taking those actions now.
  • Measure your success by how far you have come, not by how far you still have to go. Let that perspective fuel your momentum.

The tools in this episode are not complicated, but they are demanding in the best way. They ask you to take full ownership of your inner world so you can reshape your outer one. As George and Robert both affirm, it is never too late to start living the life you were meant to live.

READ THE FULL TRANSCRIPT

All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind. I am having a great day and I hope you are as well. Yesterday we shared something with you. I shared one of my mentors, Robert Stuburg, talking about the secret. And I just wanna highlight a couple of things for you today because I'm gonna play you the second part of this audio and I hope you're enjoying it. But I wanted to really highlight a couple of things. Number one, the secret is the creative power in your life. Your thoughts do create your life. your thoughts are very powerful everything in the world has been created at first in thoughts my favorite quote from napoleon hill is what the mind a man can conceive and believe it can achieve through a positive man in my attitude but i think that that says something that's so important and you know robert talks about why the secret is so powerful and there's a little paragraph that i want to read you real quick that i thought was pretty profound and just to reiterate it for you a buddhist philosopher once said that everyone is given the key to the gates of heaven, but the very same key opens the gates of hell. And whether you choose to take it literally or figuratively, the implications for this message are obvious. Just as the minds of all humans have completely shaped the modern world, your own mind gives you the ultimate control over the conditions of your life. It's a power that can raise you up to the highest levels of success and joy and happiness, or you can use that power to create unhappiness, envy, loneliness, or depression. That's created by your mind. In other words, you can actively be a part of the solution or part of the problem. The great thing is you have the ability to choose. Remember that your thoughts create your life. You choose your thoughts and your thoughts are going to take you down either of those paths. So what I want to talk to you about today is I want to share with you the second part of this audio program that he put together and remind you that this is some powerful stuff. Robert had thousands and thousands of students that he worked with over the years, myself included, when I was the CEO of a several hundred million dollar a year financial education company. And this basic fundamental principle, and this is why I love what he talks about so much, is it is basics. It is fundamentals. But today we're going to talk about applying the power of the secret. We're going to talk about the creation equation. We're going to talk about the power of decision and how taking action on your dreams will help you to create your life. And then most importantly, I think many of you will benefit from this small section he talks about on mastering your emotional power. Remember, most of us, our emotions get the best of us. We don't master our emotions as a power. So I hope you enjoy this audio today, and I hope that you will take notes, and I'd love to get your feedback. Make sure you hit me up on The Daily Mastermind on Facebook or Instagram and I will talk with you again tomorrow. Have a great day. Each and every one of us has at least 50,000 thoughts a day. 50,000 chances to create our lives exactly as we would like them to be. How are you yourself using those chances? How many of your thoughts are new and different? And how many are repetitive and unproductive? How many are geared toward achieving your ultimate goals, and how many are designed to keep you in the same place day after day, year after year? In fact, most people have fallen into a very set habit when it comes to their thinking patterns, every day thinking the same sorts of things and getting the same results that they always have. But just as it's rare to perform the same action over and over and get a different result, nothing in your life can ever really change if your way of thinking about it always remains the same. Let me repeat that. Nothing in your life can ever really change if your way of thinking about it remains the same. Now I'm assuming for the purposes of this message that there's at least one area of your life you're dissatisfied with. You may have already achieved any number of things about which you feel happy and content, but perhaps you have dreams of being or accomplishing more, working in a different field, having a different kind of relationship, or just feeling happier about the things you already have. and I'm also assuming that you would like to translate that dissatisfaction into positive change. Remember, your thoughts control your life. Your thoughts have always controlled your life. But the corollary of the secret is that you control your thoughts. You can take charge of who you are, how you feel, and what you have. I mentioned a few moments ago that most people fall into habits in their thinking, but the right habits can serve you just as powerfully as the unproductive ones can hold you back For the rest of this message we going to discuss ways you can get into the habit of supercharging your thinking enabling you to use the secret to create the life you most want to live every day In fact the tools I about to share with you are so powerful that you'll actually be able to extend your control over your own life into the world around you. In other words, you'll be able to accomplish anything you set your mind to, and it will seem as if even the random events of the universe conspire to help you along. I wouldn't call it magic exactly, but I have seen evidence that there are certain universal laws in place that help those who are helping themselves. Opportunities and inspirations that would otherwise go unnoticed will suddenly appear everywhere. Little coincidences will pop up to move you even further along. All I ask is that you listen with an open mind and be willing to think about your life and the concepts we're about to discuss in a different way. Refrain from judging what you're hearing until you can try out the techniques and see for yourself if they work for you. I'm willing to bet that they will. The secret is very real, and it's very powerful. By carefully applying the following techniques, I guarantee you'll be able to transform your entire life, to create happiness, health, relationships, and even fortunes. In other words, what you're about to hear will help you make all of your dreams come true. I've seen it work any number of times and I promise you it will work for you The first step in using the secret to change your life is to acknowledge and accept one thing Everything about your life from the things you're most happy about to the things you want to change the most Everything about your life is your own creation I know I've said this before but it's critical that you understand this You need to accept this power and responsibility Your thoughts have created your life as it has been to this point even the parts of it that make you the most unhappy. Now, I know that philosophy may be a difficult one to face. Nobody likes to think that they've acted against their own happiness, that they've suffered needlessly. But the fact is, whether you know it or not, you did it for a reason. Every situation you create serves you in some way. In other words, no matter how unhappy it makes you, you get something out of it. It may be sympathy. It may be security. It may be freedom from responsibility. It may just be the need to be right about something. And as long as the situation continues to serve you, it's difficult to change it. On some subconscious level, you don't even want to change it. I once heard a fascinating saying that there's only one reliable way to tell what a person truly wants in life. It's by looking at what he or she already has. You see, one of those universal laws I mentioned is that without fail, we get out of life what we put into it. This applies to what you put into it from every aspect of your being, your thoughts, your attitudes, your actions, and even your energy level. Like attracts like. The thoughts we focus on and repeat are the ones that are literally translated into reality. This is a very potent law of cause and effect that should never be far from your mind. I've made a strong case for the strength of your thoughts throughout this message, and yet you may have been wondering so far how it's possible to take control of your thoughts and shape the reality of your life. In fact, there's a simple formula for doing so that I call the creation equation. Like the secret itself, the creation equation is simple enough to remember and use on a daily basis, but so unimaginably powerful that it can completely reconstruct your life in any image you choose. The creation equation is the secret in action. As you can infer from the name, the goal of the equation is creation, the transformation of your mental intentions into physical form. Now, creation is almost never an easy process. Whether you're bringing a piece of artwork or a new business or even a baby into the world, there's always a certain amount of work that must be done. It's the same with the creation equation. Creating a new reality for yourself is a commitment that requires discipline. But whatever it is you intend to create, love, happiness, health, money, a new career, or even a physical possession like a new home, The equation will provide you with the framework for making it a reality in far less time and with far less stress than it would otherwise take. The creation equation is decision plus action equals creation. Decision plus action equals creation. I told you to expect something simple. Decision plus action equals creation. It's something you can always remember. And yet while these words may seem familiar what they imply when they arranged in this combination is much greater than what they could do individually Let take a few minutes to look at decision and action to find out what makes this equation so powerful. Most times, desires are articulated as wishes or if-onlys. I wish I were rich, we might say. Or, I wish I were in a happy relationship. Or, if only I didn't have to work so hard. Sure, as thoughts, your wishes do control your life, but not in the way you might hope for. That's because your thoughts are translated quite literally into your reality. If they continually begin with, I wish, such as in, I wish I were a multimillionaire, then what comes true for you is exactly that. Not that you become a multimillionaire, but that you become someone who is forever wishing to be one while never achieving that goal. It's because wishes are passive and usually unfocused. Their origin is in your lack of something. And if you focus your thoughts on a deficit, that's exactly what you will get. A deficit. But everything changes when we rephrase the desire as a decision. While wishes are passive, decisions are active. Decisions are solid and sharp. Decisions are plans, not passing inclinations. If wishes are fantasies, decisions are reality and progress. There are a few ways you can take advantage of the power of decisions to shape the reality of your life. First and most importantly, decisions require an in-depth knowledge of your goal and where you are in relation to it. You must be very clear about what you decide to create and the process it entails. You must also be very honest with yourself about what obstacles you face, both from the outside world and from your own thinking habits. If you want your decisions to be the source of your reality, you must be very realistic in those decisions. This is not to say that you can't or shouldn't make decisions that might seem impractical to the world at large, but simply that you must yourself believe that your decisions are realistic and approach them accordingly. Second, be aware that decisions are not just a mental note to yourself. In fact, they are firm resolutions that you should focus your energy on and project into the world around you through your words, actions, and attitudes. Remember, you get out of life what you put into it. Like attracts like. If you want love in your life, you have to put out love. You've got to broadcast love through your thoughts and attitudes and actions. If you want happiness, you've got to start with happiness. Like all emotions, happiness is a decision. and we'll talk more about decisions and emotional choices later in this message. But what if you intend to create money or a particular possession like a new car? How can you bring something tangible into your life if the best way to attract something is to already have it? That's where the magical tool called visualization comes in. I call visualization magical because it's a way to force that universal law I just mentioned to work for you more powerfully. You see, when you put things out into the universe, The universe just automatically gives you the results you've requested by your thoughts and actions. But when you've mastered the discipline of visualization, you can basically lead the universe into thinking you already have what you intend to create, thereby attracting it into your life that much faster. All you need for visualization is your own imagination and some quiet free time to use it every day. Perhaps it's before you go to bed at night or before your alarm goes off in the morning. Maybe it's in the shower or during your ride to work. Ideally, it will be about 15 uninterrupted minutes in which you should imagine having the life you most want to live. That's what visualization is all about. Picture every aspect of your ideal life. Engage your emotions in every one of your senses. Focus on your visualization to such an extent that you actually feel as if your vision is reality. If you're imagining a house, for example, walk through all of the rooms. Sit on the furniture. Handle the books on the shelves. Really make the scene come alive. To give your visualization an extra boost, bring aspects of your vision into the rest of your life to give yourself regular bursts of inspiration. Stick a photograph or some other symbol of your goal to your refrigerator or on a bulletin board and focus on it every time you pass by. A few more ideas on visualization. The first is that, to have any lasting effectiveness, visualization must be practiced regularly and with a significant amount of mental energy. Secondly visualization works best when you bring the emotions and attitudes it generates into the rest of your life as well If you envisioning a prosperous future do your best to project a prosperous attitude every day Remember, you get out of life what you put into it, and like attracts like. And lastly, keep in mind that visualization is not just another word for wishing or wanting. Those states come from an attitude of scarcity, not prosperity, and they're the surest way of not accomplishing your goals. Again, you get back what you put out. If you're projecting wanting, the universe will make sure you're always wanting and never fulfilled. Instead, consider visualization a powerful tool for getting what you have decided to have. By keeping your thoughts and actions in line with that intention and that visualization, your life can transform faster and more completely than you ever believed possible, and you are in complete control. The last way to get the most out of your decisions is to always remember that decision is a very active process. When you make a decision to create something in your life, you're not only creating your end goal, you're also choosing the journey that will take you there. And the secret to happiness on that journey is to be careful not to let it be overwhelmed by your goals. Remember, the results you want won't be created overnight. But there's no reason to postpone living the rest of your life to your fullest until everything is perfect. Perfection is the lowest standard you could strive toward because nothing is ever perfect. Instead, just enjoy the journey. Life is the journey. It's not the destination. And there's a fine line between living from what you want to create and living because of it. I'll talk more about that in a moment. But basically, its meaning is that you shouldn't measure your success by and base your happiness on how close you are to your goal. Measure your success by looking back at how far you've come from where you started. And base your happiness on the fact that you're alive and that the world is full of opportunities for you to thrive. So creation begins with your decisions, which are expressed through the clarity of your goals, your visualization of success, and your focus on decision as an active process. But decisions are never enough to create any change by themselves. That's where the second part of the creation equation, action, comes in. To put it simply, our actions are how our decisions show up in the world. Decisions themselves are invisible, but everyone can see exactly what we've decided by looking at our actions. In other words, our actions are the physical manifestation of our decisions. They translate what happens in our minds into real results in the physical world. But how do you know which actions to choose? This is the crucial question. You don't work from where you are now. You don't act from what you feel like doing from moment to moment. Too often, what we feel like doing bears no relation to what we have decided to accomplish. There is a method, which we'll discuss a little later, of aligning your feelings with your decisions. But you should certainly not act on the basis of your feelings alone, which can change from moment to moment. After all, what you are creating comes from a much longer-term vision for your life. So your actions should, in fact, be based on what you want to create. This is called, as I mentioned a few moments ago, living from your results. It's like making a cake or building a shelf. With goals like these, there's a set-end result. With that in mind, you follow the steps that lead up to it. It's the same with anything you want to accomplish in your life. If you intend to retire a multimillionaire, for example, you must first make sure that it is indeed a decision and not a wish, and then you must take the actions that will lead you to doing it. If that sounds simple, that's because it is fundamentally so. And yet so many people never reach their goals and never create their ideal lives because they fail to master the discipline of decision-making and following through with action. In fact, as we discussed, actions are the physical manifestations of decisions. It's never enough to wish for something. You need to decide that you will have it, and when you approach it from that attitude, your decisions must be a reflection of that intention. Remember, your actions are of the utmost importance. Your actions are the physical manifestation of your choices. Your thoughts will lead you to the right actions, and your actions will lead you to the results you want. every result in your life is the product of your thoughts and actions of your decisions and if you're unhappy with your results your decisions must change and they must change at every level start with your thoughts and the actions will follow your thoughts control your life and always remember you control your thoughts
