Act As If: Step Into the Future Version of Yourself

Listen

What if the answer to your biggest challenges is not something you have to find right now? On The Daily Mastermind, George Wright III offers a reframe that cuts to the heart of personal development: the future version of you already has the solutions. Your job is to start thinking, acting, and living like that person today.

This concept, acting as if, is more than a motivational cliche. It is a daily discipline that rewires how you approach your mind, body, money, business, and lifestyle. The gap between where you are and where you want to be is bridged not by waiting until you arrive, but by choosing to embody your future self right now.

Why Acting As If Is the Key to Exponential Growth

Many of the problems that you're seeking answers to in your life, they'll be solved by the future version of yourself.

Think back to challenges you faced five years ago. The current you handles those situations with ease, not because the problems were trivial, but because you grew. That same growth is happening right now, whether you are conscious of it or not. The act of consciously aligning with your future self accelerates that process.

When you ask yourself how the future version of you would think, act, or respond to a given situation, you pull that future identity into the present. You stop reacting from fear or frustration and start responding from wisdom and confidence you are actively building.

How to Build a Mindset That Serves Your Future Self

The best version of you understands that your thoughts are the starting ground for your reality. That means committing to a few core mental habits.

A positive attitude is not about ignoring problems; it is about refusing to let problems define your state. Emotional intelligence means you make decisions from clarity, not reaction. Conscious creation means you shape your life through intention rather than letting circumstances run the show. And a growth mindset means you may not have every answer today, but you trust yourself to figure it out.

Your self-identity matters here too. The best version of you does not measure worth by what others think. Your confidence is internal, not borrowed from external validation.

What the Best Version of You Does With Your Body

Your body is the vehicle for every dream, goal, and memory you want to create. The future you treats it accordingly.

This does not mean perfect eating or a rigid fitness plan. It means being conscious about energy. Healthy habits around food, movement, sleep, water, and rest create the sustained physical energy that fuels mental performance. When your body runs well, your mindset follows. The reverse is also true: neglect your physical foundation and your mental game suffers.

Ask yourself what the best version of you does when faced with the choice between convenient and important. That question alone can shift a lot of daily decisions.

How Your Future Self Manages Money

The best version of you knows that wealth creation is only accomplished through strategy and planning. The investor mindset is not reserved for the wealthy. It applies at every income level. Every dollar that flows through your life is either an investment or an expense, and that distinction matters.

Money management, asset protection, tax awareness, and consistent planning are habits the future you has already built. The challenge is that most people delay these habits until they have enough money. But the principles of wealth creation are most important to establish when stakes are lower, because you cannot maintain them at a high level if you never practiced them at a lower one.

If you don't treat money with respect, you're not going to have more of it.

How the Best Version of You Runs a Business

The future you sees business as a vehicle, not an identity. That shift in perspective changes everything about how you spend your time.

George challenges you to value your time honestly. If the best version of you operates at $400 to $500 per hour, why are you filling your days with $25-per-hour tasks? Time management and strategic thinking are not luxuries; they are requirements for reaching a higher level.

Most importantly, the future you is marketing-focused. It does not matter how exceptional your product or service is. Without marketing, lead generation, and conversion, you cannot create the impact or the wealth you want. Marketing is the leverageable activity that allows your business to support your lifestyle rather than consume it.

Designing the Lifestyle Your Future Self Already Lives

Life is created in the moments you consciously choose to make. The best version of you does not schedule life around business. It schedules business around life.

Ask yourself: are you creating memories, or just squeezing in time with the people who matter most? Are your days designed around purpose and passion, or around reaction and obligation?

George offers a practical exercise: write out your perfect day in detail. What time do you wake up? What does your morning look like? How does your work flow? Where does your family fit? The specifics matter. You cannot act as if you are living your best life if you have never defined what that life looks like.

Action Steps

  • Ask yourself daily: how would the future version of me think, act, or respond to this situation?
  • Write out your perfect day in detail, covering morning, work, relationships, and evening.
  • Identify one habit in each area (mind, body, money, business, lifestyle) that your future self already has, and begin practicing it this week.
  • Evaluate your time: are your daily activities aligned with what someone at your next level would be doing?
  • Commit to an investor mindset with every dollar: distinguish between investments and expenses, regardless of how much you are managing right now.

Through questions, we receive the answers. Through conscious awareness, we craft our life. Through effort, focus, and intention, we design the best version of ourselves. The work begins the moment you decide to stop waiting for your future self to show up and start choosing to be that person right now. It is never too late to start living the life you were meant to live.

All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind. My name is George Wright III. I am your host. If this is your first time listening, I would invite you to like and subscribe the podcast so you don't miss any great episodes. But today I want to talk to you about acting as if. Now, for those of you that have been in sales, maybe grown up in the area of sales and marketing, you've probably heard that phrase before, act as if. Act as if you were the top sales rep. Act as if you were the person that you think you want to become. But here's the goal, and the reason I want to talk to you about that is this. Many of the problems that you're seeking answers to in your life, they'll be solved by the future version of yourself. Think about that for a minute. Many of the problems that you need answers and solutions to in the future, you will have developed, learned, grown, had different experiences that will help you to solve those challenges. Think back in your past at some of the problems and challenges that you've had and how the current version of yourself would deal with those differently. Well, what I want to propose to you is that no matter what you're facing for challenges, you might be facing confidence issues. You might be having financial problems. You might be having relationship problems or business personnel type issues. Maybe you're struggling with marketing. Maybe you're struggling with just your mindset or your physical being. But the bottom line is this, as you go throughout life, you are going to develop and grow. Just the fact that you're listening to this podcast, I know that you're in a growth mindset. But over time, you're going to grow and learn. And one of the biggest benefits is not so much that you actually have the answers. What I would propose is, is that the way you think, the way you act, the way you are, as you learn and grow, changes. So if you're facing problems, I want you to think about the fact that whether it's your mind, your money, your business, your body, your lifestyle, Well, it's all things that over time you will learn to develop and handle in a more effective, efficient, productive, and successful way. After all, our goal, and the whole reason you're listening to this podcast, is that our goal is to become the best version of yourself, to create the life that you were meant to live. And that means that you are going to be learning and growing. It means that you're going to develop your skills. It means that you're going to have more of a mindset of peace and confidence. You're going to have businesses that have systems and infrastructure in place over time, that you're going to learn to invest and grow your wealth and protect your assets and create generational legacy type impact in the world. So the real question is this, what does the future version of you look like? What does the future version of you think like? And what does the future version of you act like? Because if you can learn to get inside the mind, the habits, and the day-to-day activities of the future you, you are going to create major change and you're going to exponentially increase your results in the here and now. So I want you to try something for me just the rest of this week, the rest of this month, the rest of this year I want you to think about a new perspective I want you to try to start acting as if act as if you were the future version of yourself Act as if you were the successful at growth impactful influencer that you want to become. At whatever level you're at, I know you're growing. So when you run into challenges and you're trying to deal with things on a day-to-day basis, I want you to ask yourself questions. Ask yourself, what would the future version of me think of this situation? How would the future version of me deal with this situation? How would the future version of me feel, act, or react to these situations? Sometimes it's a stretch for people to actually, you know, we talk about the fact is be who you want to become. And when you be who you want to become, you will manifest more in your life. But I really believe that really even just simply the act of thinking like or questioning or becoming that future version of yourself that hasn't developed yet is the goal. It is the key. So I'm asking you to just start questioning what that looks like. The benefits are going to be that you'll develop into that person over time. The benefits will be that you'll be consciously aware of who you want to become at any moment. And so it will draw you into that space. So let's break this down for just a minute. Let's talk about your mindset. The best version of you knows that the thoughts are the starting ground or the breeding ground for your true reality. So the best version of you has a positive attitude. The best version of you always tries to maintain that positive attitude of any given situation. The best version of you we know has emotional intelligence. The best version of you has a life that doesn't get ripped up by the ups and downs. Of course, there's going to be situations and moments, but in the best version of you, you're going to have emotional control. You're going to be able to make decisions not based on reaction. The best version of you is going to be the one who consciously creates your life through your thoughts and maintains an empowering self-identity. The best version of you doesn't worry about what other people think. The best version of you doesn't worry about your confidence level or whether you can handle a given situation. You're confident, you're empowered, and you have an identity that's not based on everyone else. And the best version of you has a growth mindset, meaning you may not have the answer, but you're going to figure it out. You may not have the answer, but you know over your life you've always created solutions and not dealt with the problems. Now let's talk about your body and your physical, because the best version of you knows that your body will be the starting point that determines your mental game. What your body feels and the energy that you have is going to create a huge influence on your mindset as well as everyone around you. So the best version of you has healthy eating habits. The best version of you doesn't have these ups and down crashes of sugar and caffeine, all those things. And I'm not saying that you have a perfect diet, but the healthy version of you is conscious of that and has physical activity and habits that you do, whether those are daily rituals or motion, but you want to have energy. And so the best version of you has a body that's designed around creating energy. You get sleep In a great situation you going to have sleep You going to have restful sleep you going to drink water you going to get plenty of rest And I don just mean sleep I mean rest from the stress and activities of the world So visualize what that would be What does the best version of you do when it comes down to eating fast food or trying to do stuff that's convenient versus important? Because the best version of you always maintains that your body is the vehicle you need in order to accomplish some of your best dreams, goals, memories, and so on. Now, let's talk for just a second about your money, because the best version of you knows that wealth creation is only accomplished through strategy and planning. How do you view money? How do you view your budget? Are you planning? Do you have proper money management? Or do you think of your budget and your bills as something you have to do at the end of the month or something that you'll get around to? Or do you lead with good money principles? Have you mastered money, the money game? Have you learned to protect your assets and reduce your taxes? If you're not consciously trying to keep more money of what you have, then how do you expect to grow your money? If you don't treat money with respect, you're not going to have more of it. And the best version of you knows that you have an investor mindset. Every time you spend money, you know it's an investment or an expense, no matter what it is. You're either investing in your time, you're investing in your experiences, or you're spending your money. How are you dealing with the money you have every day? All of us have some amount of money that we're getting. How are you managing that? What are you doing with it? Have you ever thought back as to how much money, even if you have a relatively low income or net income right now, have you ever thought about the amount of money that's going to flow through your bank account in your lifetime? What are you doing with it? How are you managing it? Are you just paying bills? Are you just reacting? Do you have more month at the end of the money or do you have more money at the end of the month? What are you doing? It doesn't matter what level you're at. The principles of money management and an investor mindset are important at any level. In fact, it's more important at a low level because you can't maintain that at a high level if you don't. But the best version of you knows this. And let's talk about your business. because the best version of you knows that your business is only a vehicle. It's not your identity. Your business is not what you aspire to be in your life. Your business is just a vehicle. But you know that in business, you're a strategic thinker. You know that you manage your time. Time management for you and the best version of you is so important because your time at some point becomes more valuable than the money. Where are you spending your time? Are they on activities and actions that give you the best return? Do you think about your time in terms of the ROI you get on it? Because if you do, you wouldn't be spending time doing things just to impress other people. You wouldn't be spending your time on things that you can, you know, if you value your time at a high level, you don't spend it on low-level activities. How do you value your time? Are you doing things on a day-to-day basis that are at the mindset of someone that makes 25 to 50 to 100 to 150 bucks an hour? Because I don't think the best version of you feels like they're worth 100 bucks an hour. I think the best version of you probably is in the neighborhood of 400 to 500 bucks an hour. You're a multimillionaire mindset in business. So why would you be doing activities that aren't? Now I know you have to get to that point but you never get to that point if you don think that way you never get to that point if you don try to innovate And I tell you this in business if the best version of you isn prioritizing marketing then you never going to be at a high level in business because marketing and lead generation and conversion is the number one activity. I don't care how amazing your product is. I don't care how great and passionate and impactful you feel like it can be without marketing. You're never going to create the impact. You're never going to create the wealth. and marketing is the focus that the best version of you has because it's the leverageable activity that allows you to live your lifestyle. You can leverage that. Leveraging your product quality and leveraging those kind of things are important, but they're not the things that are going to get you leveraged into the lifestyle you want. And finally, let's just talk about your lifestyle. The best version of you knows that your best life is created in the moments, in the moments that you consciously create? What is the best version of you do when it comes to family and relationships? Are you creating memories? Are you just squeezing in time? Are you prioritizing time? Do you have activities on a day-to-day that create passion and purpose in your life so that you have a fulfilled, happy, successful life? Or are you scheduling life around your business, around your activities, around everything else. A scheduled and designed life is the most important thing that you could do because that's what we're here for. We're here to live life. I want you to try something for me. I've done this with a few of my high-end mentoring clients. I want you to design out, write out, and script out the perfect day. I know it sounds like just a high-level activity, but what would the perfect day look like? Would you get up in the morning, be able to work out, get some nutritious food, get some activity, get your mindset right, and then go into a business that is leverageable and can operate without you in it, and then spend time with your family and your friends and doing activities that you love. What would the perfect day be? Make it a journal entry, do whatever you want to do, but script that out because if you're going to try to visualize your best life, you got to know what that looks like. And the specific items that I've talked about today with your mind, body, money, business, lifestyle, they may or may not be your best life. But the point here is this. Until you determine what your best version of you is, you're never going to be able to act like that. So through questions, we'll receive the answers. Through conscious awareness, we will craft our life. And through our effort, focus, and intention, we're going to design the best version of our life, the best version of ourselves. So my challenge to you is this, start acting as if. Start acting as if you're the best version of you. And I promise you this, problems will get easier to solve. The ups and the downs won't be as dramatic. And you're going to start having more of a conscious, happy, successful life. You're going to start to enjoy the path and the process more than the destination. You're going to learn that you can handle just about anything that comes your way. That's my challenge for you today. And I hope it's something that inspires thoughts in you that'll help you go to the next level. Do me a favor. And if you've learned anything, if you've gotten anything out of this podcast at all, would you please share this episode? I'd appreciate it.
