All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind. George Wright III with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. And today I want to talk to you about something that I think might give you that little bit of extra edge. And we've been on Monday mornings. By the way, this is your first time listening to the podcast. I really am glad you're here with us. And I hope I bring you some value and that you will share with me what you're working on. And if you'll do that, I'll be able to give you some feedback. And I hope that we can help you to grow your business, grow your mindset, and really create the life that you were meant to live. So on Monday mornings, we're usually covering timeless principles like prosperity pillars that we have with our pillars poster. And then as we go through the week, we hit business, strategies, tactics, there'll be interviews, solo episodes. And then on Fridays, we'll usually bring in some lifestyle and some life hacks that can help you throughout the weekend. Today, I want to continue sort of a series I've been doing for the last few weeks on the prosperity pillars. And today we're going to talk a little bit about pillar number three, which is I act in spite of my mood. Now, let me go ahead and just kind of give you a little bit of context. See, most entrepreneurs, founders, and business owners, they don't really struggle because they lack strategy or intelligence or even opportunity. They struggle because of how they feel. And on any given day, we're dealing with all kinds of things. Maybe you can relate. Fatigue and mental exhaustion, overwhelming pressure. Maybe it's frustration with inconsistent results or not getting results. You might be struggling with self-doubt or second-guessing your abilities. And maybe you just lack motivation and you have kind of this emotional flatness. But here's the issue. When emotions are allowed to dictate your actions, execution becomes inconsistent. The results don't happen. And, you know, when you're inconsistent, you're not going to grow your business, you're not going to create the results in your life that you want to have. You can have the best ideas in the world. You can know exactly what to do. But if your mood decides whether you act or not, your progress is always going to be unpredictable. So before we talk about the solutions, I want to help you to identify the real problem. And I've had this in my life. And, you know, you need to understand how your mood quietly undermines your actions and therefore your results. So let's talk about that. The first problem I see all the time, and there's several different things that I believe happen continuously that we don't really recognize. First is you make the mistake of thinking that a lack of motivation is your lack of ability. See, entrepreneurs will say things like, maybe I'm not ready yet, or maybe I don't have what it takes, or I need a little bit more planning. But the truth is most of the time, it's not a lack of skill, intelligence, or opportunity. It's your emotional resistance to moving forward. You know you feel like not like doing the work So you question your capability and that emotional confusion is going to erode your confidence over time because you don get the results which create confidence So don mistake your lack of ability and motivation It your emotions The second mistake that a lot of people make is they let their emotional state dictate their execution. Actions will sort of become conditional. And you act when you, for example, feel energized or when you move forward, it's only when you feel confident or you push when you only feel inspired. But on days when you're tired, stressed, or overwhelmed, your progress stops. And this creates a kind of start-stop pattern that really kills your momentum. And momentum is what you need in order to grow your business. So when execution depends on your emotions, your results become accidental instead of intentional. Another problem that I find a lot happens is when you're waiting for stuff like confidence or clarity or inspiration before you act. So a lot of people believe that your confidence is needed to act, but the opposite is true. Confidence is created through your actions. Clarity comes after momentum and after movement, not before. Execution creates clarity. Most people want to get really clear before they execute. And so you teach yourself to hesitate and that that's okay. And the longer you wait, the harder it becomes to actually move. And so you're digging yourself a hole. And, you know, finally, I think a lot of times we use stress or fatigue or overwhelm as a justification for not taking action. So let me be clear, stress and exhaustion is real, and it's really a gateway to creating results. But too often, what we do is we pause and delay or disengage and we tell ourselves, I'll do it when things calm down or when I have more energy or I need to take a break first. But consistent action done imperfectly is far better than not taking action. Just remember this most importantly with all these things that I've kind have identified. Clarity comes from execution, not the other way around. If you're waiting for clarity, you're not going to find it like you would if you start, you know, imperfectly executing. So just be aware of the problems that are going on and why your emotions are affecting your results. And then we can talk a little bit about why acting in spite of your mood really works and why it matters. So first understand this. Action is the primary driver of clarity, confidence, and momentum. A lot of times we think clarity, you know, leads to action, like I said, but just remember that when you act, you will get clarity, confidence, and momentum. So when you move forward, even imperfectly, you learn, you adjust, you build confidence. Momentum doesn't come from thinking harder. It comes from moving faster. And here's something most people misunderstand. Successful people don't eliminate their bad emotions. They just stop negotiating with them. You know, high performers, they feel the fear, they feel the doubt, they feel the resistance. The difference is they don't let that stop them. They commit to going forward anyway. They act in spite of their mood Their emotions become background noise And that what leadership is It starting with yourself And the other thing that you got to really remember and why this acting in spite of your mood makes a difference is that there a difference between feeling motivated and being disciplined See, motivation is emotional. It's temporary. It's unreliable. Discipline is principle-based. Discipline says this is who I am. I act in spite of my mood. No negotiations. And discipline will produce consistent execution, which gives you the results. So remember, consistent action not only gives you results, but it helps you to reshape your identity. And, you know, every time you follow through when you don't feel like it, you're reinforcing this new identity that you are disciplined. You are a mover. You are a shaker. You stop seeing yourself as someone who tries and you see someone who's just executing and you don't get caught up in the motions. And that identity shift is where long-term success is really built. So how do you do it? I want to give you a few strategies and ideas on how you can actually start taking action even when you don't feel like it. And the first is kind of foundational. You've got to set really clear goals and direction. Some of you, when you know you're going to be going a certain direction, and if you don't know where you're going at all, right, if you don't set goals, what I'm trying to say here is that when you know where you're going, action will become easier. You know, your vision will reduce that emotional friction. When you get clear, like sort of like on your direction and your goals, then you can just perform. Clear goals create kind of that pull for you, even on difficult days. Another way that you can really act in spite of your mood is to make commitments, not just decisions. See, a decision is what a lot of people make. A commitment is final. Commit in advance that you're going to act no matter what. If you decide to start going to the gym, make a commitment so that it's not negotiable every single time. If you set an alarm, you get up. If you schedule your work, you do the work. Remove that daily negotiation by making a decision and then committing to that decision. That alone is going to change your life. Now, there's another little technique that I've learned and used over time. It's called the five-second rule. And what it does is it allows you to override hesitation because when you hesitate, that's when all the doubt creeps in and all those types of things. Once hesitation's over, it fades and you go right into action. So immediate action always interrupts emotional resistance. Use the five second rule to say, no matter what, if I start to hesitate, I won't go five seconds before I just take some kind of action. And action will help push you forward and give you some momentum. The last kind of technique that I would recommend is, you know, use language, like power statements. The words you tell yourself make a difference. Just say to You say to yourself, I act in spite of my mood. I'm successful with every motion. I see the vision. I move forward. I set goals and follow through. When you use the language that you are basically programming yourself and disciplining yourself with your language it will help And when you think about it in advance then when something comes up and you begin to hesitate you can say no I act in spite of my mood take that five second and move and you got to remember that emotions are based on your state that you in so sometimes and I done this if you change your physical state it will help you change your mind it'll help you change your emotions and so there are tools that you can use like music or images or memories or pictures or things like that. If you've ever had a song that's come on and it's immediately changed your state, when you use those type of tools, and I recommend preparing in advance, like if there's a really strong song or picture or poem or story or memory you have that motivates you, that moves you, have that ready accessible. Have it on the screen of your phone because those tools in advance are going to help you when the resistance hits. And, you know, finally, I just I really believe you need to set daily rituals because when you set daily rituals, they become habit. And the habit of moving forward, the habit of making a decision and a commitment and moving, even when you don't feel like it, you won't have to rely on your own willpower, if that makes sense. Your willpower is going to be in short demand at times when you're having emotional problems. So this whole topic of acting in spite of your mood is definitely a difference maker for you if you want to create the life that you're meant to live. And I believe that all of us have greatness inside of us, but we need tools and strategies to help us push through when we don't feel like it, when everything's not going our way, when the odds are stacked against you. Use the tools, use the rituals, use the little techniques and remind yourself that that future version of yourself would not settle. It would not stop. It would not hesitate. And so that's the message I want to leave you with today. I hope you'll take that into the week and I hope you'll do your best to not let your emotions regulate where you are and what you're doing and what your actions are. And if you do that, I promise you, you're gonna see some major results. Now, before we take off, I wanna direct you.
