Building Authority and Credibility in the Marketplace

Listen

George Wright III recorded his 1,000th episode of The Daily Mastermind with something different in mind: no fanfare, no parade of celebrity guests, just a direct conversation about what it actually takes to stand out in a noisy world. The milestone prompted him to reflect on his life, the recent loss of his father, and the question he returns to every quarter: are you happy, and are you getting the results you want?

The answer, for most entrepreneurs and business owners, involves more than hustle. It requires a clear strategy for becoming the kind of person and brand that people trust, seek out, and refer. That strategy, in George's view, is authority and credibility marketing.

Why the Marketplace Has Changed

The environment for business owners has shifted dramatically. AI-generated content, an explosion of self-proclaimed influencers, and algorithmically driven platforms have made it harder than ever to know who to trust.

The marketplace is extremely noisy. It's very, very crowded. It's also very difficult because of AI and influencers to really cut through and figure out who is real.

Everyone looks polished. Everyone sounds credible. The only sustainable differentiator is genuine authority, built on real experience and communicated consistently. A logo badge saying "as seen on" a major network is no longer enough; anyone can buy that placement. What matters is controlling your own narrative and showing up frequently and predictably in front of your target audience.

What the Ultimate Authority Formula Looks Like

After roughly 25 years of marketing major brands and speakers, including events for Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, and others, George developed what he calls the Ultimate Authority Formula. It has four steps.

Strategy comes first. Most people skip it. Strategy means identifying your specific market and the exact avatar you serve, then crafting a message designed for that person, and choosing the media channels that reach them. Market, message, and media working together.

Authority is the second step. Podcasting, magazine features, articles, and earned media placements all build credibility. The goal is not a one-time feature; it is consistent, frequent visibility that lets you own your niche in the public mind.

Technology is step three. You need the ability to contact, capture, and convert leads. Without that infrastructure, all the authority in the world does not translate into business growth.

Distribution closes the loop. You have to become omnipresent: appearing in your own channels, in other people's audiences, and in targeted lead-generation campaigns. Podcasting, social media, guest appearances, and media features all serve this purpose.

Why Podcasting Is a Defining Trend Right Now

George points to podcasting as one of the most powerful and underused tools available to business owners today. The barrier to entry is low. The trust factor is high. A podcast gives you a platform to demonstrate depth, share expertise, and build the kind of relationship with an audience that transactional advertising simply cannot replicate.

Guest appearances on established podcasts extend your reach into existing audiences without requiring you to build everything from scratch. Starting your own podcast lets you control the narrative, interview influential guests, and attract inbound attention from your ideal clients.

The Difference Between Authority and Influence

George is careful to separate what he is describing from the influencer culture that dominates social media. Building authority is not about follower counts or viral moments. It is about becoming someone who creates real impact based on the unique talents and experience you actually have.

Success is not to be pursued. It's to be attracted by the person you become, by the life you orchestrate.

A personal brand built on genuine credibility compounds over time. It attracts clients, partners, speaking opportunities, and media features precisely because it is rooted in something real.

How This Connects to Your Life, Not Just Your Business

One of the recurring themes in George's work is that business growth and personal fulfillment are not separate pursuits. The same clarity you develop when defining your authority niche, who you serve, what you stand for, what makes you different, is the clarity that helps you build a life that feels intentional rather than reactive.

He describes a layered approach: daily inspiration through the podcast, weekly strategy and mentoring through his Academy, and deeper execution support through high-level masterminds. Each layer moves a person closer to results they can actually feel, not just measure.

Action Steps

  • Define your target market, core message, and the media channels that best reach them before investing in any content creation.
  • Choose one authority-building vehicle, a podcast, a column, a regular guest-appearance schedule, and commit to showing up consistently rather than occasionally.
  • Audit your technology stack: can you contact, capture, and convert leads from the attention you are generating? Fix the gaps before scaling.
  • Map out your distribution strategy so your content reaches your own audience, other people's audiences, and net-new prospects simultaneously.
  • Identify the unique experience and perspective only you can bring, and build your personal brand around that, not around trends.

The 1,000-episode mark is a reminder that consistency, purpose, and a genuine desire to help others is what sustains a body of work over time. You do not need to have everything figured out to start. You need to start in order to figure things out.

It really is never too late to start living the life that you were meant to live.

George Wright III has been proving that point for a thousand episodes, and the next chapter is just getting started.

All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind, George Wright III with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. I hope you're having a great day. I hope you've started off your week with a bang, but I want to ask you a couple of questions. How is your year going for you? How are you doing so far? I mean, we're looking at the end of July. I can't believe it's this far along, but we're looking at the end of July and I just kind to tend to ask myself this question about every quarter, are you happy? And are you getting the results that you want to get? And I want to ask you that same question. Are you happy? And are you getting the results that you want to get? Because if you're not getting the results that you want to get, you have to ask yourself, why not? Are you not getting the results because you're not doing the right activities? Are you not getting the results because you don't have the right people and surroundings around you? Maybe you're, maybe you're working on a path that you just don't want to be on. But whatever the reason is, I want to really talk to you today and just kind of riff. I'll tell you what, I'm pretty excited because today is the 1,000th episode of The Daily Mastermind. Can you believe 1,000 episodes? I don't even know how I've been able to talk that much, obviously with the help of interviews and things like that. But 1,000 episodes, it really got me thinking, what is it that we want to create over the coming months and years? What is it we want to create? What do I want to create? You know, many of you know that I've done the Daily Mastermind strictly as a passion project. I haven't used it to really make any money. I haven't had any ads or sponsorships. But we're really getting serious now over at the Evolution Group, which is my company, about how we can impact and create some purpose and passion, but also create a lot of results and success for the people that are members like you of our community. And so, you know, recently my father passed away. Many of you may know that. You may not know that. I'm a pretty private person when it comes to my personal life. But it really got me thinking. I was able to take about a week off. You've probably seen a couple of throwback episodes and things over the last little while. But that's because I've taken some time off to really analyze where I'm at with my life, where I'm at with my business, what I'm doing, what kind of impact I'm creating for my kids, my business partners, and everyone else. And maybe you can relate to this. There's times in your life where you step back and you really analyze what it is you're doing. And are you getting the results? Are you happy with what you're getting out of life? You know, throughout my career, I've always kind of chased happiness and chased success. And then I realized that I just needed to create a life that I wanted. And more and more and more, you've heard me say that success is not to be pursued. It's to be attracted by the person you become, by the life you orchestrate. and it really is never too late to start living the life that you're meant to live. And so what I want to do, and I want to talk with you just kind of off the cuff today, just for a couple of minutes, just about what I want to try to do with my company and with the Daily Mastermind and how that applies to you. What is it going to do to help you? Because I've always felt, and I've looked at myself as kind of unique in the industry. There's so much noise out there. There's so many people out there. But after about 25, 30 years of having proven experience and track record of working with big brand names and having multiple businesses that have been successful. I've learned a few strategies. I've learned a few resources. I've acquired a network of contacts that I believe will help me to help you create your best life. And so my company, The Evolution Group, for those of you that are first time listening, The Evolution Group is really focused on creating a global mastermind of entrepreneurs and business owners that will create impact in the world and really be able to create a life that the individuals want to live And so I do that a couple of different ways. Number one, with the mastermind. The daily mastermind is designed to create inspiration and motivation. I believe you need that on a daily basis. You know, we are in a battle in our minds on a day-to-day basis. And having that surrounding and that environment of inspiration and motivation, I think is key. The second way we do it is through the academy. Now the academy, the mastermind academy that I have is more about strategies and tactics. It's more about kind of a weekly mentoring. And so some of you have qualified to be inside our small mentoring group. Others will qualify in the future because we're going to open that up. But I take people from this daily mastermind to a weekly academy because I want to be able to help them to apply strategies and tactics to grow their business, their money, their life, their personal development. But ultimately, you've got to get into the execution. That's where mentoring comes in. I'm a big believer in mentoring. That could be in a group setting or private setting. It could be in our high-end mastermind that we're going to be doing. But that's all about execution and delivering actual results. Now, you've heard me talk about what I believe is the formula to grow your business in your life. And that's that seven-step formula. and it starts with mindset. Everything starts with your mind because your thoughts create feelings, create actions. They drive your results. But after you get through the mindset piece, that piece that helps you to evolve, you then have to get into true strategies in your business. And that's the steps of strategy. I'm not going to cover these in detail today, but strategy, marketing, sales, growth strategies, technology, and people. And then I always like to bookend it with money, meaning I start the process in my life and helping others with mindset and I end it with money. And in the middle is just a bunch of growth strategies in your business. So why do I tell you that? Well, what we're going to do is something a little bit different. In August, we're going to start launching a series of Academy Live events. Now, these aren't going to be for everyone. The focus of the Academy Lives will change and they'll morph over time. But this month and right now, I've decided to pick a specific growth strategy that I think is really working well in the marketplace. It's something that I think will help you to zero in on your unique ability and talents, grow your business, attract more influence, and lead you to the life you want to live. And that is the area of authority and credibility marketing. See, there's some trends in the marketplace right now. If you haven't noticed this, once you do, it's like anything else, your reticular activating system is going to kick in because once you notice these trends, you're going to see it is literally dominating the marketplace. I see this because of my marketing company and things that I have. One is podcasting. Believe it or not, more and more and more people are taking advantage of podcasting because in your business, you can drive marketing, you can drive lead acquisition through podcasting in a very ineffective and inexpensive way. You can start a podcast, you can guest appear on podcasts. This is a way to create influence and authority and credibility. But podcasting is a huge trend. The other trend you'll see is credibility marketing. What do I mean by credibility marketing? Well, it's the process of building a personal brand. Because when you build a personal brand, that can help you to build and leverage what's going on in the marketplace. And this is because, why is this so important? Why is this so popular? Because there's a lot of problems out there right now. The marketplace is extremely noisy. It's very, very crowded. it's also very difficult because of AI and influencers to really cut through and figure out who real who isn real Everybody looks good Everybody sounds good but who really has depth The only way you going to have the ability to stand out in the marketplace is to create credibility And one of those strategies can be podcasting. So I've developed sort of this ultimate authority formula. See, over 25, 30 years, I've been able to market some of the biggest brands in the world, some of the biggest names in the world, Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump, individuals like Dean Graziosi and others that my companies have filled events for, helped launch their books. And I've learned a bunch of things, right? But I'm learning every day. But one of the things I've found is that there's a pretty specific strategy you can go through right now in the marketplace to create authority. And I've kind of put that together and I call it the ultimate authority formula. And let me just give it to you real quick. I'm not going to go into details with it, but it starts with strategy. Most people skip the step of strategy. Strategy means you've got to get your market, your audience, your target avatar, the person you're going after, really detailed. And then you've got to identify your message. What is it you're trying to communicate to that market specifically? And then you identify the media that you want to be able to go out to them in. Your market, your message, and your media. Now, I believe in this strategy formula. You also can really take advantage of authority. Authority is the ultimate, this credibility marketing is the ultimate strategy for you. So once you get this strategy down, step one, step two, you go to building authority. And I think, and I feel that podcasting, magazines, articles, things like this PR area can really help you to create authority, but it's not important to just be featured. You've got to be featured frequently. You've got to control the narrative. If you don't control the narrative, you're just out there. Look, everybody can get a as seen on, you know, Fox News, ABC, CNN on their bio. You can just pay for that nowadays. What you want is you want to control the narrative and you want to be featured frequently and predictably. And so building authority is step two. Step three is technology. I do think a lot of people are out there in the marketplace and they don't have the ability down to contact, capture, and convert leads. If you can't contact, capture, and convert leads, you're going to be in a world of hurt, a whole lot of problems. And so you've got to learn to use technology to do that. And that's step three. And step four is to be able to apply all of that information and all those strategies to distribution. The key is you've got to become omnipresent in the marketplace. Becoming omnipresent, what do I mean by that? It means you've got to be seen. And the way you can get seen, there's so many strategies. You've got to be able to find ways to go to your own marketplace, other people's markets, and even create leads. And you can do this through podcasting. You can do this through magazines, social media, being featured. But the bottom line is you have to be able to get out of the marketplace. So this is kind of the ultimate authority formula that I talk about. It's the strategy, the authority, the technology, and the distribution. But why do I tell you this? Well, the reason I tell you this is we're going to be doing more and more over the next little while to help you with growth strategies to grow your business, to grow your life, to create a life. I feel like if you want to create a life, it's not about separating your personal and your business and your finances. It's about finding ways to be able to incorporate all that into stuff that you love to do. And part of that is building a personal brand. So we have an event coming up that, like I said, not very many of you will be able to get to because it's in Utah, first of all. It's only a small group of about 50 people or so, but it's at the Franklin Covey Leadership Center. I did a deal with Franklin Planners. For those of you that have been around for a little while you know they kind of the authority when it comes to time management and leadership development And we helping them to start their podcast We helping them to do a whole bunch of strategies like I talking to you about But the Franklin Planner organization is where we going to be doing this live training And there's not a lot of it that you're going to be able to get access to, but afterwards, I'll be able to share some of these strategies. And the reason I bring this up is my goal with the Evolution Group has never been to just promote my products. It's been to help you to grow your business and provide the support, the inspiration and motivation for you to do that. And I believe one of the best growth strategies that you could adopt right now is authority, building authority. And in addition to that, it'll help you to create a life that will be authentic and be real. And I think if you would focus on building authority for yourself and a personal brand, it's not about being an influencer. That's not what I'm talking about. What I'm talking about is someone who can inspire and create impact based on the unique talents that you have. So with that said, what I wanted to do, this is the thousandth episode. I could have had a big hoopla and had a whole bunch of speakers and brought in past interviews or big credible names to make a big deal about it. But the Daily Mastermind podcast has always just been about you and me. It's always been about me providing inspiration and motivation to help you to stay focused, find solutions, and be surrounded by positivity and success. And that's what I want to do today.
