All right, welcome back to the Daily Mastermind, George Wright III, back with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. I've been out for a hot minute, and I hope you have missed me, but I apologize for being gone. I actually tore my bicep, just to give, for those of you that were wondering, a little update. I was lifting, and I tore my bicep. I didn't even know that was a thing you could do. But in order to make sure that I got the use of it again, I had to go in for surgery. And I had to reattach my bicep. Man, modern medicine. Who knew? So needless to say, for two weeks, I will not be able to use my right arm. And then it's a four-month rehab. So I will be getting very creative. And I will start to work with a lot of voice on my Mac. But I'm learning a lot. I've got to be honest with you. I didn't even know that your Mac had all kinds of voice activation stuff built right into it. So it's really cool. You've got to check it out sometime. It's under accessibility in your Mac, but there's a lot of things you can do. And I think what it's going to do is it's going to help shift me into a creative mode. I will be spending less time on spreadsheets. For those of you that know me, you know that's going to be a challenge. But I'm really excited to be back with you. And I want to talk with you today about attitude. I want to talk to you about your attitude. And I'm going to take a frame of reference that I used to have conversations with one of my mentors, Robert Stuburg, about. And he used to talk about it being a disease of attitude. And I used to say, what do you mean by disease? What is that all about? Well, let's think about it for a second. What do you think about when you think about disease? You think about something that affects your body, right? It affects your optimal ability to use your body. and attitude I believe is what's going to affect your ability to use your mind and if your thoughts create your life and your mind is where you create your thoughts it's very important that you identify whether or not you're dealing with any disease of your attitude right now and I'm going to talk with you a little bit about things that I believe you might be having in your life or others might be having around you, like indifference and indecision and doubt and worry and over caution, you know, pessimism, complaining, things like that. Now, you may not think, excuse me, that you're an overall negative person, but I think disease is one of those things that sneaks up on you. And so I want to talk to you about that in this concept, in this reference that, you know, Robert and I used to have these conversations about. And, you know, a great way to kind of bring this up is to reference an individual that I've also learned a lot from, Warren Buffett. You know, Warren Buffett, when he talks about investing, because there's so many people that used to say, hey, how, they would ask him questions like, how can you invest? You know, what are strategies and techniques and tips? And ironically, he would always go back to the way you think In fact a quote that he had he said a while back he said to invest successfully over for a lifetime does not require a stratospheric IQ or unusual business insights or insider information What's needed is a sound intellectual framework for making decisions and the ability, and listen to this, the ability to keep emotions from corroding that framework. so what does he mean by that well he he later went on to talk about the idea that you know a lot of people start with like a 400 horsepower motor and they're only operating at 100 horsepower it'd be better to operate a 200 horsepower motor at 200 horsepower and so what does he mean by that well let's think about your mind for a minute if your mind is what you're using to create your philosophy, your decisions, your actions, and your life, what level are you operating at with your mind? And are you allowing the disease of attitude to corrode your mind? Because your mind is a tool that you've got to have in order to create your best life. It helps you with your decision making, it helps you with your, you know, intellectual capacity, but also helps you with your philosophy and filter you're putting on everything in your life. And so I want to talk to you today about seven different things that I believe can be diseases of your mind. And I want you to, and remember, disease sometimes can sneak up on you. It's not about whether or not you're having a huge problem with it. I want you to think about each of these and think about the solutions that I offer you in each of these areas. The first is indifference. You know, there's so many people drifting in life and letting it slide. And you may not look at this as a negative, but But are you indifferent to things? Are you like, yeah, you know, I'm just go with the flow kind of person? Because you can't drift your way to the top. You can't drift your way to creating your best life. The solution is you've got to find stuff you get excited about. You've got to get excited and take action. And so if you're feeling indifferent to areas of your life, just realize your life only gets created by being focused and excited about stuff that you have going on. If you are indifferent to areas of your life right now, that is a problem you need to recognize. The second disease of attitude is indecision. Indecision. Now, all of us know that this mental paralysis or, you know, the inability to make decision can be very frustrating. I've been there many times as well. Sometimes you have too much information. But the key with solving this disease of your attitude of indecision is just to make a decision. and I know it sounds simple but there might be something you're struggling with right now and you're just having trouble trying to figure out what direction to go and what you need to remind yourself is that no matter what direction it is forward progress is better than no progress and remember that you know that quote that you've heard me say many many times destiny is shaped in your moment of decision your destiny is shaped in your moments of decision not indecision so making decisions is literally as simple as just making a decision. And make sure that you're not in that state of indecision when you feeling overwhelmed The best solution you could do is just make a decision So we talk a little bit about indifference and indecision but one of the other diseases of attitude I think a lot of us suffer from is doubt Doubt Maybe you doubting yourself Maybe you're doubting your direction. Maybe you're doubting your, you know, your ability to create your best life. Maybe you doubt the future. But doubt is something that is going to be a seed that's planted that ultimately will erode and corrode your mindset. So you've got to learn to be focused on believing and creating faith around your ability to handle situations. And you can't let doubt, you know, Napoleon Hill talks a lot about doubt. Don't let it creep in because doubt is that enemy to growth and success and positivity. And honestly, doubt is a disease that eliminates your happiness level and your fulfillment level. Don't let doubt creep into your life. That's something that you have got to get past. And sometimes it's a tough one, but sometimes you can just focus on believing and faith that you have the ability to handle anything. Even if you don't know how you're going to handle it, even if you're not optimistic about it, believe that you have the ability to grow to whatever level it's going to take to handle things in your life. so don't let doubt creep in the fourth disease of attitude is worry how many times have you spent hours or days or weeks worrying about something worry is usually rooted in something that might happen not stuff that has happened might happen and so this this disease of worry it will continue to grow when you focus on it the thing about worry is if you focus on it it's going to grow. It's not going to get solved. And so the solution for worry is just to get busy. Just get busy doing things, focusing on the goals and the plan you already have. Don't worry about the outcome. Focus on the path. Focus on what you're doing. I believe that when you worry, you have spent way too much time thinking about things. People that are busy, people that are productive, people that making things happen, don't have time to worry. Worry is stuff that's going to happen in the future and that's when you're focused too much on the results. So don't let worry creep into your life and affect your mind. Another disease of the mind is over caution. Over caution. This is where, you know, a lot of people get really worried about taking risks and that it stems from doubt, it stems from worry, but over caution can be a disease of your mind. Over caution can be when you don't empower yourself to just take risks and be alive, the solution to over-caution is just go for it. Have that be your mantra. Go for it. Do things. Act. Fail five times faster. Do what it takes. Don't allow caution to erode your mind. That's a definite thing that will sneak up on you as well if you starting to be cautious Make sure that you aware of that I trying to bring these things to your attention so that you won let them sneak up on you Then you have the sixth disease I want to talk about is pessimism Focusing on the problems in life, the philosophy of things might go wrong and having that pessimistic attitude. Now, most high achievers, doers, you know, individuals like yourself, you're not pessimistic, but you might be in certain areas of your life. The solution for pessimism is just to focus on what's working. See, pessimistic people focus on problems that could happen or are happening. What you need to do is focus on what's working and believe that challenges are going to come. There's nothing you can do about that. There's no reason to be pessimistic about it. Just get after it and make things happen. And then the final thing, and this is one that I believe all of us can benefit from a second look at, the seventh disease of attitude is complaining, is complaining. Being unhappy with your lot in life and telling everybody about your problem. Now sometimes we convince ourselves that we are talking about things we want to change, but talking about the change isn't going to change it. So you have to learn to eliminate any kind of complaining. And some of us, some of us actually just talk about the things we don't like and we try to put a positive spin on them, but realize that when you're focused on things you don't like in life, you're not focused on the things you do appreciate in your life. And I know that sounds obvious, but when you are giving any energy at all to things you don't like, then you're focused on those and you're not going to be putting that energy into creating the life you want. So let's just review this really quick because I think it's so important for you to understand that your mind is going to determine your life. It's the tool you use. And if you allow any of these diseases to affect your mind, it will slowly work away at what you may have as a 400 horsepower engine with your mind. And you might be operating at 100, 100, not 400, but 100 horsepower. So make sure that you identify whether or not you have indifference, indecision, doubt, worry, over caution pessimism or even complaining in your day-to-day life because those things are going to keep you from optimally using your mind to create your best life ever so that's my message for today i hope it's something that gives you some food for thought do me a favor if you would share this episode share the podcast please share it and tag me so that i can see what you're doing and i can also even comment um and and and keep in touch with you but share this episode share the podcast, reach out to me, let me know what I can do for you.
