All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind, George Wright III with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. Let's talk today about your brain. What do I mean by that? Do you ever feel like, you know, you're just stuck in your own head as well as maybe you have times of stress where you're feeling sluggish and tired? Look, most of what we do as entrepreneurs and business owners relates to our brain. And one of the foremost experts, at least in my opinion, things that I've learned, is Dr. Daniel Amen from the Amen Clinics. And so we're going to be talking about that today. But before I get started, if this is your first time listening to The Daily Mastermind, hit that subscribe button so you don't miss any episodes. As you know, the reason I created The Daily Mastermind was to inspire, motivate, and educate you to create your best life. and we cycle through these areas of mind, body, money, and business to create a lifestyle. And I cycle through all those areas because on a day-to-day, at any given time, you're probably focused majority on business and you don't realize that there's a mind-body connection that your body and your mind develop to help you to execute in your business. And so today I want to talk to you a little bit about your body and that starts with your brain. And I will remind you, by the way, that we're going to be launching a brand new podcast in conjunction and partnership with Valiant CEO Magazine. It's been insane to see what a big push it is for authority right now in the marketplace. It's really hard to get seen. And so Valiant CEO Magazine, we've done some really good highlights of top thought leaders. And so I'm excited about that. That's why I'm doing for the next 21 days, some of the top authorities, 21 days of authority that you can use in those areas of mind, body, money, and business. So today we're going to be talking about your brain. And really the idea here is this, how do you unlock your potential in leadership and business and in your life by focusing on that entrepreneurial brain, that tool you have? Remember, your mind and your brain are tools that you can use in your business as well as in your life. So I've learned a lot from Dr. Amen. He runs a clinic where he does brain image scans and spec scans to what they do is they really determine where the blood flow is going to your brain. And it helps them to really cut down and work into various things that affect your mindset, your psychology. And I think it's interesting. One of the things I heard early on was that many entrepreneurs deal with stress and depression and anxiety and these types of things that rather than just getting medications and things to fix them, we don't really go to the root core cause. And that is what's happening in the brain, you know, from a scientific, physiological, you know, perspective. So I put together some notes on just the top teachings that I've learned from Dr. Amen when it comes to your brain. And I want to share those seven things with you today. There's seven principles and strategies that are directly related to your brain that I think will make a difference in your business and therefore in your life. And the first is that there are different brain types. I know that sounds weird or different. And if you haven heard this before the bottom line is we as human beings don all have the exact same brain You know Dr Amon talks about identifying what type of brain you have so that you can optimize it And I not going to get into the different types because this is about bringing your awareness to it, but you may have a brain type like a balanced or a spontaneous or persistent or a sensitive or a cautious. Depending on your personality, depending on your physical attributes, the way your brain works is a little different. And it's just like anything else, like personality assessments. You've got to understand what type of brain you have and how it works if you want to leverage that to your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. I'll give you an example. If things tend to stress you out, if you tend to immediately think of things as negative, if you overanalyze or overthink, These are all things that we deal with. You need to come up with strategies and ways to deal specifically with your brain and your thinking type. So that's the first thing that I really want to point out to you. The second thing that's really helpful is to understand that optimizing the blood flow to your brain will optimize your decision-making skills and your abilities. The brain health is directly linked and your ability to really function properly with your brain is linked to blood flow. And that's why they measure that with these SPECT imaging scans. Low blood flow means you're going to make poor decisions. So what do you do about that? How do you increase and optimize your blood flow? Well, strategies would be exercise, hydration, foods like beets, leafy greens, omega-3s. You've heard that before, water, omega-3s. If you're not hydrating, think about it. A majority of your body, especially your brain, is made up of water. When you don't optimize it by hydrating, you're literally limiting your capacity to be effective and make good decisions. So if you're a leader, you've got to think about this brain-mind-body connection and optimize blood flow. The third thing is to understand that the prefrontal cortex is the CEO of your brain. There's an area of your brain called the prefrontal cortex. Some of us, like myself, live in that. But that's the CEO of your brain. And entrepreneurs need a strong prefrontal cortex in order to be focused and be able to plan and strategize and have impulse control because that CEO center of your brain is your impulse control. So how do you get a strong prefrontal cortex? Well, strategies would be meditation, reducing distractions, targeting with supplementation like Ginkgo or supplements. You can kind of read up on that. But the idea here is how do you strengthen your prefrontal cortex so that you're more focused, a better planner, you have better impulse control and decision-making skills. And that goes right to the strategies of meditation and mindfulness and eliminating distractions so that you can use that prefrontal cortex effectively. So we've talked about brain types, optimizing blood flow, and the CEO center of your brain. The fourth thing is this idea of dopamine and your drive. See, dopamine is really that fuel for high achievers. It's the thing that we strive for. And the problem that we have nowadays is that social media and electronics affect your dopamine levels And what important to understand is that high dopamine levels drive motivation but too much can lead to burnout and impulsivity right If you too triggered by dopamine. So it's important as a strategy to balance your dopamine naturally. Most of us are artificially stimulating that dopamine with all the electronics and social media and things like that. But you've got to balance that naturally with protein-rich foods, being goal-oriented, having structured routines. When you do this type of structure in both your nutrition and your day to day, you're going to balance those dopamine levels and it's going to keep you from getting burned out because burnout is one of the top things that I've found with entrepreneurs that I work with. Okay. The fifth thing that Dr. Eamon talks about, and I really love these next couple, is that stress kills your success. So you've got to learn to manage that anxiety prone brain. You know what I mean? Look, our brains are prone to react. And here's the challenge that you have. Stress will kill and create burnout. And yet you've got to learn to live with stress. And so your limbic system, which is that part of your anatomy that handles reaction and fight or flight, that's the thing that you use when you deal with stress or fear-based decisions. And so these things, stress, can cause burnout. And so what do you do to combat that? Well, strategies here would be deep breathing, journaling, and then supplementation like magnesium or ashwagandha have both been shown to really increase or decrease your stress levels. So remember, dopamine you need to balance with this protein-rich foods and goal setting and structured routines, but stress you have to manage with deep breathing and journaling and supplementation like magnesium. And this is why I talk so much about having consistency daily routines. Because when you have daily rituals that involve your nutrition, your health, your practices of breathing and meditation and journaling, these things are not just really cool ways to be successful. They literally go straight to the health and vitality of your brain, which affects your decisions. You know, we talk about your thoughts, create feelings, create reactions, create results. But you got to stop for a minute and think about the fact that your brain is where these thoughts are happening. If you don't optimize your brain, you're not going to optimize that whole process. Okay. So number six, nutrition. Obviously that's going to be one that's going to be key because you have to eat for cognitive power. You have to eat right to be able to have a strong brain. You know, Dr. Amen has a quote. He says, the wrong diet makes you dumb. and it's scientifically proven to be true. When you don't eat healthy, you are going to lower your ability for your brain to work. So what are your strategies here? Well, you've got to have a brain healthy diet. These would be like lean proteins, healthy fats, low sugar, obviously, and avoid toxins alcohol drugs sugar caffeine these types of things they work against your brain So look I know this is a difficult one It a difficult one for me You probably just like me Every Monday morning you starting over But when you realize how important affects your brain and your overall success maybe that will motivate you to have a more consistent, healthy diet for brain health. Okay? And then the last one, can't go without this one. Number seven is sleep and brain detox. What I mean by that is this, your sleep is when your brain data dumps. It's when your brain can detox. So if you have poor sleep, you're going to have bad memories, slow thinking, impulsive decisions. And in this day and age we're at where it's the hustle and the grind, it's almost like a badge of honor to have no sleep. And what you don't realize is that's literally the stupidest thing you could say or think because sleep is literally what's going to help your brain recharge. And without it, you're operating on empty. You're operating on two cylinders. You're not effective and you're not productive. So strategies. You've heard me say this before. No blue light before bed. You got to turn your phone off. And on top of that, magnesium supplements again. And really, I think the biggest thing here is a strict sleep schedule, a consistent sleep schedule. When your body, because your body can learn to adapt, right? You might be four hours, five hours, six hours, seven hours. I think everybody's different, but they've said maybe six, seven hours is probably ideal. But whether you do or don't, being consistent is the key. So this is my point I wanted to get across to you today. If you want to be successful and you're doing everything you can and you're just not seeing the results or you're doing everything you can. And sometimes you feel like your body's just working against you. Start with the brain. Start with your brain and understand what type of brain you have. Optimize the blood flow. Understand how to feed and strengthen that prefrontal cortex. And then manage your dopamine and your stress levels and eat right and get sleep. Those strategies, I promise you, it sounds like a lot, but it's really, it's a healthy overall lifestyle. When you do that, your business is going to benefit. Your relationships are going to benefit. Your life overall is going to feel better. You're going to just feel better. And so I really encourage you to spend some time on your brain. And I look forward to talking to you a little bit more about neuroplasticity and some of those things in the future. But for now, do me a favor. But you've got to make some decisions and you've got to prioritize your brain. That's a big, big piece of it. mind, body, money, business, and lifestyle. So that's my message for today.
