Welcome back to the Daily Mastermind. George Wright III here. I am your host and it is Friday. Are you excited about that? I'll tell you what, it shouldn't matter because there's no such thing as just going into a weekend when you are crushing and creating your life. Every day of the week is just as powerful and I certainly hope you're not one of those and if you're listening to the Mastermind, you're probably not. Just look forward to the weekend so that you can relax because I'll tell you what, some of the best parts of your life are created on the weekend when you're creating memories with your family and friends and, or driving your business. And hopefully you're doing something that you're passionate about. So your business life, your personal life, it's all kind of mixed together and you're, and you're creating an amazing lifestyle. But today is Friday. So I want to start focusing on lifestyle because as an entrepreneur, that's the freaking reason we do it is lifestyle. It's important that the path is one that is not just about the grind. So I want to share some tips and strategies on how you can make your life better on Fridays each week. And today we're going to talk about 15 things highly focused people don't do. And these are things that will help you. You know, also on Fridays, I'm going to start to throw in some travel and luxury life hacks. Other times it'll simply be articles and stories that I feel give you nuggets to create a better life and lifestyle. So this week I want to share something I picked up on an article from the Lifehack website. I get a lot of the subscriptions to the Lifehack ideas and this article is by David Williams and it was featured in lifehack.org. And you know I'm going to add a few details and thoughts of my own to the notes but I also love that this is an outline of 15 things that highly focused people don't do. Let me just kind of list these out, give you a few comments and I think it's going to get your mind going and it's going to help you to develop that mental game that you need to create an amazing life. So the focus is, you know, of this whole article is really to talk extensively about ways that you can create focus and operate in the present moment and creating the now and the now is going to create your lifestyle. So number one, the highly successful and highly focused people do not gossip. They do not gossip. Bottom line is if you have time to gossip, you're not busy enough and you're not focused enough. Successful people focus on themselves, their business, their families, their environment. They don't worry about other people. They focus on what's important. Number two, they don't multitask. If you want to create results, you're going to have to focus on boosting your attentiveness and your productivity on every single task that you have and proving, and I'll tell you what, this is a proven fact that adding two to three tasks to your plate is just going to lower your productivity. So why don't you stop multitasking and get focused and follow one course until successful? That's that acronym for focus. Number three, highly focused people. They don't procrastinate. Highly focused people don't procrastinate. You have to learn to push yourself to accomplish what needs to be done right now. Act in spite of your mood like prosperity pillar number three We do it even when we don feel like it Don procrastinate Number four don allow distractions to derail you Highly focused people remove distractions We talked about this throughout the week Email social media interruptions, all these things lead to reduced productivity and they break your concentration. So set some boundaries. Get some barriers in place to avoid these distractions. Number five, highly focused people don't seek, listen to me now, they don't seek validation from others. Stop living on the validation of other people. Learn to seek your own internal validation. Concentrate on things that are going to increase your self-worth, like personal and professional development, and you'll outgrow the need for other people's approval. And let me tell you something here. If your actions don't reflect, you know, because a lot of people say, I don't worry about self-validation. Well, if your actions don't reflect that, then it's highly doubtful that you believe it. It's highly doubtful that you believe it. Meaning if you're scrolling social media all the time because you're looking to see what everybody's doing, that's a big indicator. You're looking for validation yourself. Let's move on. Highly focused people don't entertain disorganization. It's hard to find focus when you're disorganized. And ironically, it's actually easy to have a sense of organization. It's not that hard. Just find ways to increase your organization and, you know, in ways to eliminate the clutter and you're going to see results, concentration, and focus. And, you know, so many of us feel like, well, that's just not my forte. Listen, you've got to do certain things like budgeting your money, creating wealth, and one of them is being organized. You've got to be organized if you want to stay focused. It's the disorganization that robs you of your focus. Okay, let's keep going. Number seven, highly focused people don't give silly excuses. You've heard this before. You can make money or you can make excuses, but you can't make both. I love the article pointing out that you have the same number of hours per day as Sir Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg, and many other successful people. There's never a perfect time for anything. Just make the commitment and get things done. Don't give excuses. The bottom line is how you use your time, how you invest. Notice I said invest your time, because some of you are expensing your time, you're not investing your time, has to be related to the fact that you don't make excuses, you just get to work. Number eight, highly focused people don't avoid risk. Highly focused people are not afraid to take risk. Life itself is a risk. Learn to take calculated risks. That's the key, the calculated risks, so that you learn more from the positive and the negative experiences because you know what you're doing and you're going into it with your eyes wide open. Your success and your abundance is going to be outside your comfort zone, so it will always be about taking calculated risks. Number nine, highly focused people don't dwell on the past. Now, I know you've heard this a million different times, but I want you to think about it for a minute. Don't dwell on the past. Accept the past as the past and move on. Don't let it define or consume your mind during your day, and most importantly, don't let it keep you from moving forward by fearing outcomes that have not even happened because you peppering that against the filter of the past So many of us during our day allow our minds to get distracted into events that already happened In a relationship, in a business, in a situation. Not only is that unproductive time, but it's robbing you from the joy of the present, and it's destroying your future. Because you have this thought that's preventing you from taking action because you're thinking about the past. Don't dwell on the past. It will make you unproductive and unfocused. You can't focus on your future if you're focused on the past. Number 10, highly focused people don't act rashly, like hastily, right? So don't rush into things, especially if you're being reactive to a situation. Take the time to be more calculating and make sure your actions align with the person you want to be, your vision, your mission, and the things that you have set up. many entrepreneurs spend too much time running around chasing shiny objects and reacting to their environment because of FOMO, the fear of missing out. That's not how you create your best life. You create a plan and you go after it. Most times there's no right or wrong answers. They're just focus, dedication, discipline, and consistency. That's the key. So don't act rashly or randomly. Number 11, don't involve yourself in matters that don't concern you. Highly successful and highly focused people, they mind their own business. They have a mission and a vision to create and manifest their life. They don't waste time with the nonsense of everything going around them. It doesn't do you any good to get yourself involved in other people's business. Stay focused and stay aligned. That's when you're going to have some results. And I think it's easier said than done, but I want you to focus on you. Put your blinders on. Now, number 12, this is a great one to eliminate from your life. And I want you to really, really think about this one. Highly focused people don't compare themselves to others. This is different than validation where you're seeking validation. Stop comparing. The only person you should compete with is yourself. Comparing yourself to others is the surest way to reduce your self-esteem, to lower your confidence, and to eliminate your results. Just stop it. Run your own race, play your own game, and compete with yourself to bring out the best version of you and stop comparing yourself to others in your space because you are just trying to be the best version of you. And so it doesn't do you any good to try to benchmark yourself against other people. It just sets problems in motion with your self-esteem and your confidence. I hope that makes sense and I hope you'll really listen to me on that one. Number 13, don't have unrealistic expectations. Highly focused and driven people are realistic. This means at times you have patience and resilience, and you're more importantly managing your expectations. Unrealistic expectations can reduce your motivation. It leads to disappointment. It also adds pressure when it's just not necessary. Find a way to stretch yourself. Listen, I get it, but if you're earning a quarter million dollars a year and you want to earn a million dollars in the next 90 days it probably not going to freaking happen Set realistic expectations You can find a way to stretch yourself but also keep placing realistic benchmarks along the way. I do believe that the mind of man can conceive and believe anything, and it can achieve that same thing, but you've got to do it in a way that doesn't demotivate you. And just understand, success takes time, and the price has to be paid. There's no shortcut. And so that's why it's important to get started now. Also, highly focused people don't say yes to everything. This is one that a lot of you have trouble with. Highly focused people are not people pleasers. I've talked to you about this, and I tell you, say yes and figure it out, but not say yes to everything and figure everything out, right? It's equally important not to do certain things if they don't relate to your vision. Just to please other people is not a reason. It's not about saying yes as much as it is learning and having the courage to say no. you know, we could all take a moment and apply this better in our lives, including myself. You know, we take on too much and it robs us of our vision. Now, number 15, and this is the final one, highly focused people don't quit. This one's obvious, but let's be honest, people are quitting all the time. You can't quit. You can't quit. There's areas of your life that are too important for you to ever quit. and if you want to have an influence in your life with other people, you've got to set that example as well. And how you do anything is how you do everything, right? So learn to make a commitment to follow everything through. Everything's going to be a learning experience for you. You're never going to quit. You're going to continue to just move forward. Learn to make the commitments and follow through on those commitments that you make, period. No excuses. No excuses. So those are the 15 ideas of highly focused people. Let's go through them again real quick here so you have them. Highly focused people don't gossip. They don't multitask. They don't procrastinate. They don't allow distractions to derail them. They don't seek validation. They don't entertain disorganization. They don't give excuses. They don't avoid risk. They don't dwell on the past. They don't act rashly. And they don't involve themselves in other people's business or compare themselves to others. and highly focused people don't have unrealistic expectations. They don't say yes to everything and they never, never quit. I love that information. So check it out in the show notes. I'll put some of that. I'll put a couple of the links to articles that you can also look at. But I hope this has brought you some ideas. I hope it's brought you some value. And I hope it's brought you some clarity so that you can become a highly focused entrepreneur or leader or husband, spouse, partner, wife, you know, whatever it is in your business and in your life. So that's the message for today. Do me a favor and share this episode. I'm looking forward to talking with you more this next week on some really, really key principles to help bring you some clarity in your life and some vision in your life.
