George Wright III opens this episode of The Daily Mastermind with a direct challenge: your body is the foundation of your business success. Covering the 10X Health Optimization Method developed by human biologist and longevity researcher Gary Brecka, George walks through five science-backed principles that entrepreneurs can apply to boost energy, sharpen mental clarity, and extend their healthy years.

Whether you're battling afternoon crashes, brain fog, or chronic stress, these five pillars offer a practical framework for upgrading how you feel and perform every day.

Why Oxygen Absorption Is the Starting Point for Peak Performance

Oxygen is, as we know, one of the most critical nutrients for human survival. And yet most of us don't have any idea. We don't track it. We don't know if we have low oxygen levels, which is what leads to your brain fog and your fatigue and your poor decision making.

Most entrepreneurs never think to measure their oxygen saturation, yet low levels are directly linked to cognitive decline, poor focus, and energy crashes. Gary Brecka's first principle is simple: measure and optimize your oxygen intake. Tools as accessible as a pulse oximeter or an Apple Watch can give you baseline data. From there, breathwork practices like nasal breathing and hyperoxygenation exercises can improve your body's ability to absorb and use oxygen efficiently. One of Brecka's clients started breathwork and oxygen therapy after testing below optimal and experienced dramatically improved mental clarity and sustained energy throughout the day.

How Your Genetics Shape Your Energy and Mood

Your DNA is more than ancestry information. Brecka's second principle focuses on genetic testing as a blueprint for high performance. One key marker he highlights is the MTHFR gene, a mutation that affects how your body processes B vitamins. Because B vitamins directly influence energy production, mood, and hormonal balance, an undetected MTHFR mutation can leave you feeling sluggish no matter how clean your diet is.

George shares the example of a client who switched to a methylated B vitamin supplement after discovering this mutation, which produced dramatic improvements in focus, sustained energy, and stress tolerance. Getting genetic testing done is a one-time investment since your genetic code does not change, but the insights it provides can guide your nutrition decisions for life.

What Cellular Hydration Really Means (and Why Water Alone Is Not Enough)

Most people think hydration just means drinking water. Brecka's third principle draws a sharper distinction: cellular hydration requires the right balance of electrolytes and minerals, including magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Without that balance, your body cannot generate energy efficiently, leading to burnout and brain fog.

George notes that he started taking a magnesium supplement and noticed a significant difference. If you rely on caffeine to power through your mornings and hit a wall in the afternoon, an electrolyte imbalance may be the actual culprit. Electrolyte-infused water and targeted mineral supplementation can smooth out those energy dips and support consistent mental sharpness.

How Hormone and Vitamin Optimization Affects Your Business Performance

Low testosterone, vitamin D deficiency, and imbalanced cortisol are common among entrepreneurs who push hard without monitoring their internal chemistry. Brecka's fourth principle calls for regular blood testing to understand exactly where your hormones stand, then optimizing through diet, supplementation, or hormone therapy as appropriate.

George gets his blood tested every quarter and recommends at minimum one to two tests per year. The data tells you whether your decision-making capacity, resilience, and motivation are being undermined at the biological level. You cannot optimize what you do not measure.

Why Breathwork and Cold Therapy Are Performance Tools, Not Trends

Stress and inflammation are the two biggest performance killers for business owners. Chronic stress is going to weaken your mental clarity, your emotional stability, and even long-term business success.

Brecka's fifth principle combines breathwork and cold therapy as tools for actively managing stress and inflammation. Practices like Wim Hof breathing and cold plunges have shown measurable effects on the nervous system, boosting resilience, sharpening mental focus, and improving emotional regulation. These are practical interventions with documented physiological benefits. Adding even a few minutes of structured breathwork or brief cold exposure to your morning routine can shift how you handle the demands of building a business.

Action Steps

  • Measure your oxygen saturation using a pulse oximeter or wearable device, and investigate breathwork practices if your levels are below optimal.
  • Get genetic testing done to identify any nutrient absorption issues like the MTHFR mutation, and adjust your supplementation accordingly.
  • Review your hydration strategy: add electrolytes and minerals such as magnesium, sodium, and potassium rather than relying on water and caffeine alone.
  • Schedule regular blood testing, at least once or twice a year, to assess your hormone and vitamin levels and optimize them for energy and performance.
  • Add a daily breathwork practice or begin experimenting with cold therapy to lower inflammation and build stress resilience.

Your health is your greatest business asset. It's never too late to start living the life you were meant to live.

All right, welcome back to The Daily Mastermind, George Wright III with your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. And today I want to talk to you about your health. And let's talk more specifically about your body and nutrition and what you can do to make a difference. If this is your first time listening to the podcast, I like to try to rotate between mind, body, money, business, and lifestyle, because most of my listeners and most of you that in the mastermind community are entrepreneurs, business owners, individuals that are looking to optimize your life and create a lifestyle and really create the life that you want to live, that you are meant to live. So I think it's very important that we knock out this topic of health and nutrition and fitness because it really is directly related to your quality of life. So lately I've been, and I don't know how many of you have heard of Gary Brecka. He's a pretty popular guy online right now. He's a human biologist, researcher, and he really emphasizes longevity and anti-aging. And so it's something that has provided me with a lot of great information lately. I wanted to share some ideas with you. And he has this 10x health optimization method that he talks about and that his business is basically centered around. And I want to go through the five kind of key principles that he has in his health optimization method. And it's, you know, I don't know if you've gone through these before, but I think most people have not really gotten a sense of what you can do to, you know, prolong your life, increase your health, reverse aging. There's just some really great science out there right now. So for those of you that are not familiar with Gary Breckett, like I said, he is a longevity expert. He's known for working on optimizing your health and performance. And he's been credited with extending Dana White from the UFC, his life expectancy, because he's helped people to live longer, healthier, happier lives. He hosts a podcast called The Ultimate Human, where he interviews scientists and athletes and entrepreneurs. But he has these five key principles that his whole 10x health method revolves around. And so I want to go through these five with you, because if you're Like me, some of these, you know, you may have thought about, but there's some unique intricacies of these that I think might help you. I mean, look, let's be honest. Your health is your wealth. And if you can't get healthy and you can't increase your ability to physically perform, mentally perform in business and in life, your quality of life just isn't going to be there. And so I really want to, let's go through these. I'll kind of allow some show notes, links. I'll put some links in the show notes for you so you can check it out yourself. My goal is not to be an expert on this, but I've learned a lot and I just want to kind of share both what the five key factors are, what kind of strategies they embody. And then also I'll give you some examples, like he given some examples of people that have been in his program I kind of share with you just so you see how they work So let start out with oxygen The very first thing that he talks about is the oxygen factor and the foundation of really your peak performance Oxygen is, as we know, one of the most critical nutrients for human survival. And yet most of us don't have any idea. We don't track it. We don't know if we have low oxygen levels, which is what, by the way, leads to your brain fog and your fatigue and your poor decision making. And since we rely so much on our thinking as entrepreneurs, the performance in your body's ability to absorb oxygen is just critical. And so Breck talks about the importance of really measuring your oxygen saturation. And, you know, you can do this, actually, the new Apple Watch 6 series, I think it is, will measure your oxygen, or maybe you've ever been into the doctor, they put that thing on your finger, it just measures your oxygen so you could buy a sensor. but it's the idea of measuring your oxygen saturation and using breath work and things like that to increase your oxygen intake. There's things like hyperoxygenation breathing and nasal breathing exercises and things you can do. You can look into that, but my idea here is really I want to make the point that you've got to increase your oxygen absorption and make sure that you're not low if you really want to function properly. You know, Brekka talks about one of his entrepreneur clients was always experienced afternoon crashes and, you know, difficulty focusing and things like that. And after testing his oxygen levels, he found that he was below optimal. And so he started doing breath work and, you know, oxygen therapy, things like that. And all of a sudden his mental clarity improved, his energy was longer through the day. And so I do think oxygen, just like we talk about the brain, is something that you've really got to focus on. The second thing, the second key principle is this idea of genetic testing, because your genetics is your blueprint for high performance. A lot of entrepreneurs struggle with fatigue and brain fog and stress. And despite like maybe you're very healthy and you go to the gym and things like that, but Brecca talks about these issues a lot of times stem from your actual genetic variations and your ability to absorb nutrients, regulate hormones, and manage your inflammation levels. So one of the most well-known markers that he talks about, and I'm not a big, I don't know a whole lot about this, but I've been researching lately, the MTHFR gene, and it's a gene mutation, which affects how your body can process B vitamins. And why is that important? Well, it impacts your energy production, your mood, your overall balance. B vitamins or some of the critical vitamins that your body needs in order to manage those. And your genetic makeup will make a big difference as to whether or not you're maximizing that productivity, right? So, you know, he had a client, I'll give you an example, that felt really sluggish despite a really clean diet and really good exercises And he found out that that MTHFR mutation had made it really difficult for his body to absorb B12 and folate And so he switched to a methylated B vitamin and that dramatically boosted his focus and sustained energy and stress tolerance. So there's little tiny tweaks that you can do when it comes to this, but your genetics is something I've been meaning for a while now to go get my genetic testing done because once you get that done, it doesn't change. From what I understand, And, you know, your genetic code, your ability to absorb those vitamins doesn't change. And so you'll be able to dial in your nutrition a little bit better if you do that. Okay, so let's get now into the third area. The first one was oxygen. The second one is your genetic testing. But the third one is cellular hydration and mineral balance. We overlook this a lot of times because we think about hydration. You hear about drinking water. And let's put this in perspective. A lot of business owners, entrepreneurs, high achievers, they rely on caffeine and stimulants to get through the day. And I'm no exception to that. I'll admit openly. But dehydration and mineral imbalances are often really the root cause of your fatigue. And it's not just the fact that your adrenal glands are burned out, right? So when your body lacks proper electrolytes and minerals, it struggles to generate more energy. And so it leads you to burnout and brain fog. So Brecka talks about cellular hydration being more than just drinking water. It's about ensuring the right balance of minerals like magnesium, sodium, potassium. And this is what helps you with your optimal brain health. I've started a magnesium supplement just recently, and it's made a big difference. you might be experiencing energy dips throughout the day and electrolyte infused water or minerals and hydration in this way can really help you to increase your mental sharpness, your sustained energy and limit those afternoon crashes that we tend to have because we start our day with caffeine. And so that's something that's really important. I think this idea of cellular hydration, not just hydration in general. And then the fourth key to his 10X optimization method is hormones and, you know, hormone and vitamin optimization, you know, getting your body really aligned for maximum output. A lot of entrepreneurs suffer from low testosterone, vitamin D deficiencies, you know, cortisol levels might be off. And that leads you to low motivation and poor recovery and chronic stress. And these are things that will affect your decision-making, your confidence, your business performance. And so there's this idea of, and I've started as well, regular blood testing and assessing where are your hormones at. You've got to learn to optimize your supplementation, your diet, your hormone therapy. There's a lot of ways to increase your cognitive function, your resilience, your productivity, just simply by managing your hormone levels as well as your nutrition And the only way to really know that is to get your blood tested regularly Now I get it tested every quarter You might get it tested once or twice a year But I would argue that most of you have never had it tested or at least not at the level that you should. And so your hormone and vitamin optimization is really a key thing. And then the fifth area is this idea of breathwork and cold therapy. You probably heard a lot about cold therapy because of all the high performance stuff out there right now. But the thing is this, inflammation is the root cause of some of the biggest problems. Well, stress and inflammation are the two biggest performance killers for business owners. And chronic stress is going to weaken your mental clarity, your emotional stability, and even long-term business success. And so this idea of breathwork and cold therapy, which can rapidly lower your stress hormones, improve your circulation, lower inflammation, these are the things that are the solutions. And so I'm not going to get into them on this podcast, but the Wim Hof breathing and cold plunges have really shown that you can activate the nervous system in a way that boosts your resilience, your mental sharpness, and even keep your emotions under control. And so these are all things that are brought out by this breath work and cold therapy. So these are the five areas that Brekka talks about. They're the areas you've probably heard about. I just want to bring them to your awareness. You know, the oxygen factor in your body, your genetic, individual genetic testing, your cellular hydration, your hormones and vitamin, you know, balance and optimization, and the idea of breath work and cold therapy in your mix. these are all science-based approaches that help you to improve your energy focus and longevity and so i want to highly recommend that you prioritize your fitness your health your lifestyle because this is what's going to directly affect that your body is the foundation of your business success so you've got to learn to optimize it and that's one of the reasons i wanted to talk about this today so i hope those are some things that have given you some value i'd encourage you to check out the 10X Health Optimization Program.
